New VZSuits Released
PTI's innovative VZSuit has been
redesigned with new features that will ultimately reduce operating costs for
users. This is a two-piece stretchable Lycra motion capture suit that is
completely Velcro-compatible (except for the armpit areas) and is equipped with
a hood and gloves. This suit is very easy to wear and allows for free
unrestricted acting motions. The VZSuit is designed for quick and easy
arrangement of the current LED markers as well as the new SWMarkers (as shown
below) for optimal capture performance. Also, the wire count can be reduced
dramatically using the SW markers as 1 wire can support upto 9-10 markers making
full-body mocap possible with as little as 5 wires on the entire
suit. |

New SWMarkers
PTI's new SWMarkers
(Semi-Wireless Markers) are a new marker system designed to bridge the gap
between wired and completely wireless SIMarkers. One wire-pair can power up to
ten SWMarkers, and three wire-pairs can be powered by a single battery pack
making the SWMarker system almost wireless at a very attractive price. The
markers can also be re-positioned along the wire-pair to facilitate attachment
on a capture subject. With reductions in size of the marker, battery and
receiver, the SWMarkers can be applied for many scientific applications.

New VZGlove
A new VZ Glove has been
released for users looking for very precise and intricate motion capture of the
fingers. Made with stretchable Velcro-compatible fabric on the back side and
mesh material on the palm side for sensitive touch, this glove set allows tiny
Velcro based markers to be easily attached anywhere in order to minimize
occlusion and allow the highly complex finger motions to be captured. The gloves
can also be customized for a tighter fit, thereby aiding in the motion capture
process. |

Target Control Module 16 (TCM16)
This 16 channel target
control module can control up to 16 LED markers, yet it is as small as a TCM8!
The 16 channels can be user-assigned to occupy any of the 1-16, 17-32, 33-48 or
49-64 LEDID banks. Its compact size makes it ideal for wearing around a wrist
for fingers motion capture or similar applications. It comes in two versions,
one for operating with the standard marker system, the other for operating with
a SWMarker system.
Visualeyez for VR Sector
PTI has now developed
software protocols for VRCO and VRPN, the 2 most common software protocols for
the VR industry. Motion capture data from Visualeyez systems can be streamed
into any VR applications that conform to these industry standards.

Complete End-User Solutions &
Integration from PTI!!
PhoeniX Technologies
Inchas established partnerships with AMTI and C-Motion to offer
pre-packaged solutions that include high precision forceplates, data integration
cards (National Instruments), and advanced reporting software. Complete and
effortless integration with EMG, force platforms and other 3rd party analog
devices is now possible. This will benefit scientists and researchers who are
looking to reduce lab setup
time involved with acquiring and setting up all the necessary
components (hardware and software) required for their research labs in gait
analysis, sports science, biomechanics, kinesiology and medical fields. All of
the measurement equipment provided by PTI Visualeyez motion capture systems,
force plates, EMG systems - are fully synchronized and can deliver data straight
to the reporting software for immediate analysis. By eliminating a lot of the
work involved with connections between software packages, researchers will now
have more time to focus on their core competences as opposed to data cleanup and
integration from multiple sources.

Visualeyez Systems Power famous
Calgonit Commercial in Europe!!!
Companies around the
world have for many years used PTI Visualeyez systems for motion capture to
dramatically reduce animation development times for TV Commercials, animation
films, computer and console games, etc. Animationsfabrik , an
animation and VFX company based out of Hamburg and Cologne in Germany and a user
of the Visualeyez systems for several years, recently revealed that Visualeyez
systems were used to generate the motion data for the famous
lt;STRONG>Calgonit commercial.
"The PTI
Visualeyez systems were used to capture the animation sequences in
Real-Time. The captured motion data was streamed in real time (via a plugin)
into MotionBuilder so the shots could be analyzed right away
and improved, before we sent the actor back home. We used a single actor for the
entire commercial and in shots with multiple characters, each character was
recorded individually whilst the finished characters stayed in the scene
performing the motions. This way, timing and interaction between them could be
observed and fine-tuned. Furthermore, the video signal could be transferred
directly into the edit so that the first digital version of the spot was
available very quickly. The Visualeyez 3D Real Time active optical mocap
system was instrumental in providing us the flexibility we required as
well as producing great results, whilst saving a lot of money too ll this in an
extremely short time frame," said Jens Kmper, Head of 3D Department of
Animationsfabrik.

Yale University
School of Medicine uses Visualeyez for Spine Research!!
Health Departments and
Biomechanics labs have used PTI's Visualeyez motion capture
systems as a research tool for the human spinal cord, injury
prevention, and post injury rehabilitation. The Yale University School
of Medicine recently adopted PTI's Visualeyez Real-Time Active Optical
Motion Capture Systems for a study called "Effects of Reflex Delays on
Postural Stability During Unstable Seated Balance", which was supported
by the National Institutes of Health. "After evaluating
several available motion capture technologies and systems, the Yale University
School of Medicine opted for PTI's Visualeyez systems for this research project.
The Visualeyez system was used to capture the unstable seated balancing behavior
of individuals and was used to build mathematical models representing
neuromuscular control of the trunk. Using those models, they were able to
increase the delays for control to determine what effect it would have on
postural performance. It was found that, in general, longer control delays
increased trunk displacement and torque: two important ingredients for the
development of low back pain. However, model
simulations also showed that the slightly longer delays found in low back pain
patients could not account for their impaired postural performance. The
Visualeyez motion capture system portability and extremely quick and easy setup
was ideal for our lab. The Visualeyez
systems acclaimed Wide Angle Operation (90 degrees field of view in both pitch
and yaw directions) made it possible for us to conduct our studies in lab space
that was extremely small in size, which would not have been possible with many
other systems," said Dr.N. Peter Reeves, now a
researcher at Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. The
full details of the research project and its results will be published
shortly.
